We have a bunch of Math Olympiads coming and each has its own format and prep materials. In this page we will try to summarize the contest details and provide links to practice materials.

LeotaMathClub - NorthCreekHighSchool Math Club Partnership

We are very happy to introduce the partnership between Leota Math Club and North Creek High School Math Society for Olympiad training sessions. These sessions happen every Wednesday 3-4:30pm PST. 

To get zoom links/details on these sessions, make sure you are signed up for communications at Math Olympiad Club Communications Sign Up (leotaptsa.com). We will post zoom details to only parents who are signed up for communications.

Mathcounts Math Competition

Signup for 2021-2022 competition is over. The 12 qualifying students will now compete in the Chapter round on 2/17.

https://www.mathcounts.org/ has the details on this competition.

First round of tests was conducted for all students who signed up.
From the first round, only 12 students will qualify to the next round (chapter round). For all students selected to go to round 2, a payment of $30 will be required.From those 12, few may get selected to the state and then to national. There is no additional fee to participate in state and national rounds.
The qualification to next round is based on the results in the previous round.
First round (general round): 12th Jan, 2022
Chapter round (round of 12): 17th Feb, 2022
State: March, 2022
National: May 7-10, 2022

The sessions conducted by NorthCreek High School students (information in the above section) will go over some of the past and test questions from this tournament.

Berkeley Math Tournament

The Berkeley Math Tournament Group is an organization founded at the University of California-Berkeley. A student run-organization founded in the early 2010's, the Berkeley Math Tournament and Berkeley mini-Math Tournament gather students from the Bay Area and elsewhere to celebrate mathematics and the spirit of mathematical competition.

MOEMS (Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools)

FORMAT

(Leota Math club is not participating in this competition for 2021-2022 school year)

  • Olympiad consists of 5 tests, one per month starting from November.
  • Each tests consists of 5 questions and 30 minutes per tests
  • Only taken by individuals.
  • Sum of scores of all 5 tests is used to declare winners
  • Leota team score will be a sum of top 10 individual winners.
  • The 5 tests will be conducted as follows
    • 6th graders (DIV E) test will be held from 4pm to 5pm.
    • 7th and 8th graders (DIV M) will be held from 5pm to 6pm

Math Is Cool

"Math Is Cool" is a very fun, exciting and challenging math competition. This will be held completely online this year on Wednesday 9th Feb from 3pm to 7pm.

Students should solve a few past papers completely to understand the format and get a feel of the kind of questions that would be asked. Students need to have a strategy to solve problems as questions carry different weights.
